Isumu Prize/イスム賞

TanaCOCORO Karyobinga (Kalavinka)/TanaCOCORO
[ 掌 ] 迦陵頻伽

Sho figure (right) to be given to the winner of the Photo Contest

This figure is of Karyobinga, a mythical creature that has the head of a human and the torso of a bird. Singing in an exquisite voice in paradise, it brings solace to each and every soul. There are no previous examples of standalone Karyobinga figures, so this three-dimensional version had to be drawn from decorations that embellished the halos on Buddhist statues. By using a transparent acrylic base, it was possible to create a figure that looks as if it is flying through the air. The total height is 15.9 centimeters. Cost: 18,000 yen. Available from July 19.
